The Diary of Sawaan: Where Art Meets Flavor

When my wife and I first dreamed of Sawaan Thai Kitchen, we knew it had to be more than just a place to eat. We wanted it to be a living gallery—a reflection of our obsession with interior design, installation art, and the perfect harmony of colors.

A Space for the Senses

Running a restaurant in San Francisco is a journey, and every corner of this kitchen tells a story. From the specific hue of the walls to the placement of each art installation, every detail was chosen to evoke the “heavenly” feeling of our name.

We believe that you “eat with your eyes first,” and that applies to the room just as much as the plate.

Our Design Philosophy

In this “diary” update, I wanted to highlight the thought process behind our decor:

  • Color Matching: We chose palettes that reflect the vibrant energy of Thai street food mixed with the sophisticated modernism of SF.
  • Installation Art: Keep an eye out for the unique pieces throughout the dining room—they are curated to create a sense of wonder.
  • The Atmosphere: We designed the lighting and layout to make you feel like you’ve escaped the busy city streets and stepped into a serene, artistic sanctuary.

We are so grateful to have you following our journey. Next time you visit, take a moment to look around—we hope the art speaks to you as much as the food does.
