A Message from Abid: The Heart of Sawaan Thai Kitchen

To our wonderful customers, our growing community, and the many friends we have made since opening our doors—thank you.

Since we first opened Sawaan Thai Kitchen here in San Francisco, it has been a whirlwind of activity. Between perfecting the menu, managing inventories, and fine-tuning our systems, I haven’t had a proper moment to introduce myself and share the story behind this project. Now that we are settled in, I felt it was finally time.

Who We Are

My name is Abid, and I am the co-owner of Sawaan Thai Kitchen. My wife and I share a deep-rooted passion for interior design, installation art, and the harmony of color. When you walk into our restaurant, you aren’t just entering a dining space; you are stepping into a curated environment that reflects our love for aesthetics and atmosphere.

The Meaning of “Sawaan”

In Thai, Sawaan (สวรรค์) means Heaven.

We chose this name because of the popular Thai phrase, “Aroy muen dai kuen sawaan (อร่อยเหมือนได้ขึ้นสวรรค์), which translates to “It tastes so good, it’s like going to heaven.” That is the experience we strive to bring to every table—a “heavenly” taste of Thailand right here in the city.

A Personal Menu

The dishes you see on our menu aren’t just random selections; they are the meals I personally love and enjoy most when I am back home in Thailand. Every recipe is a reflection of my own favorites, prepared with the hope that you will enjoy them just as much as I do.

Join Our Journey

This is just the beginning. I want our social media page to serve as a diary for you to follow—a place where I can share the daily life of Sawaan Thai Kitchen and the real journey of running this beautiful space.

Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to see you at the table!
